A weekend at NOLA

I have always been a city girl who loves to walk around and explore new streets and experience the culture. And I was pleased with my time at New Orleans. I stayed at the Sheraton located conveniently on Canal street overlooking the Mississippi River.
Everything was pretty much walkable or a quick short drive from the hotel. We stayed at the Executive suite and it was wonderful. There was the right amount of space for our family of 4. When you enter you have a small area with refrigerator and sink. Then you have like a living room space with sofa and TV set. There is a wall dividing the room with the sofa. An office desk perfectly positioned on the corner overlooking the ceiling to floor windows which gave us a breathtaking view of the place.
With the Executive suite we had complimentary access to the lounge which we enjoyed having the convinience of. The lounge was located on the 42nd floor (the views were WOW). You get Hors d'oeuvres served in the mornings and evenings. You also get some grab and go snacks readily available with 2 coffee machine having speciality coffee, hot chocolate and tea. The space was really cozy and sit down and relax.
Due to some recent changes, their breakfast was served at the Roux Bistro on the 2nd floor. They had a buffet style breakfast which was all cooked to perfection and served nice and warm. To dine there you do have to show proof of vaccine either digitally or physically.
The hotel itself was quite happening and lively.
We had planned our next day to check out the city and go for a stroll. And it was really fun. The French market was just a 15 min walk away. The local market is the one stop place for buying some nice treasures and souvenirs while supporting local businesses. The Jackson square is the heart if New Orleans and in the epicenter of the French Quarter. You can visit the Saint Louis Cathedral or takena mule drawn carriage. Or even enjoy the Mardi Gras if you come for the festival.
The next day we visited the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. Again it was just a quick 10 min walk from the hotel. I have been going to aquariums since childhood and still enjoy visiting them. The marine life is very fascinating to me and I feel happy seeing my kids enjoy it as much. The aquarium was pretty nice. Not too huge but good to cover in 2-3 hours. There is a mall right beside aquarium and you have a nice shopping experience in there.
The food options in the surrounding areas are in abundance and you get a variety of cuisine to choose from. I loved my entire experience at New Orleans and would definitely stay at Sheraton NOLA for all the convinience it has to offer.
